Creating a Legacy for the Independence Center

Supporting Independence Center gives us the opportunity to help young adults with special needs develop independent life skills and experience success living on their own. Your donation can also provide scholarship funds and help families that need financial support. We are most grateful and thank you for your contribution.

Make A Difference Today

Imagine how much of a difference you can make for the future residents of the Independence Center with the creation of a legacy gift. A thoughtful gift designed through your estate plan can ensure that the Independence Center is open and available to generations who may benefit from our remarkable programs. These “planned gifts” can help you achieve your financial and charitable goals, alleviate tax issues, provide income tax deductions, and create additional income. Below are some of the simplest ways in which you may leave a legacy with the Center:

CRTs

A charitable remainder trust (CRT) is established with cash or appreciated property/securities. It pays a fixed or variable income to the donor, with payments that may be made either for life or a period of time (not to exceed 20 years). At the end of the trusts’ term, the balance in the trust will be distributed to the Independence Center.

Bequests

Simply name the Independence Center as a beneficiary in your will or living trust. You may designate a specific amount, specify a percentage, or plan on leaving the residual of your estate.

Retirement Plan Assets

As with life insurance, you can easily name the Independence Center as a beneficiary of all or a portion of your retirement plans(s). As these assets are often the most heavily taxed at death, they are an excellent option for legacy gifts.

Life Insurance

You can easily name the Independence Center as a beneficiary of all or a portion of a life insurance policy. You may also donate a paid-up policy directly to the Center.

There are many other options available that we can discuss on a one-on-one basis.
